Please note that due to the nature of us selling a car on your behalf, while making contact with us, please be sure to include a mobile/cell phone number with country code if outside of the UK. Professionally written, detailed descriptions of your car

If you've ever been on eBay and looked at the quality of the descriptions on some cars, it's amazing to see that some people think that a description that they would put in a classified newspaper advert will attract bidders on eBay. It won't. A newspaper advert will attract people from the local area enough to come and see the car, but eBay is all about buying an item without seeing it. So the more detailed you can be the better.

Then of course, there is the different size and coloured text and capitalization of words. Personally speaking this just puts me off bidding on anything, as it does many other people. If a description is hard to read, it won't be read, no matter how nice the car looks in the pictures.

Good quality images are another important factor to secure an interest. There are so many listings on eBay that are well written, but the pictures leave a lot to be desired. A good Ebay listing relies heavily on an array of good quality, well taken photographs. We are able to provide a factsheet on how to take quality pictures of your car to make your eBay listing stand head and shoulders over the rest.

Advertise your car on eBay Classifieds

eBay now offers a classified advertising section, where sellers who don't wish to chance an auction, can advertise their car to eBay visitors without the unknown qualities of an auction, but in the traditional way of a national newspaper advert. Vehicles are listed in a similar format as an auction, usually for a period of 28 days. The importance of good quality images and a very good description is paramount to the successful sale of your car.

We will write a good quality description for your vehicle to maximise the risk of your item selling for the best price possible.

Creating a listing and conducting an eBay auction

eBay are very good at making it a very simple task to create a listing. They give good pointers and of course, it's a business and they want to upsell to you, but that aside, anyone can do it. The fact is that few people can do it well. It's down to the human nature being pre-judgemental. When you see a good quality listing, you automatically might think 'How much?' Quality normally means expense, but expense normally means reliability and quality. That's what people are looking for.

Think of it this way - if you were to look at a description of a car and it said something like:

Low miles, Metallic Black, FSH, Nice car, 12 months MOT.

It's telling you the facts that you need, but if care and attention to detail are not given in the description, then it begs the question where else care and attention are lacking. In the car maybe, the engine? Is this car going to be reliable?

Take a look at this:

This very well presented car that shows a low mileage for it's year and has been fastidiously maintained, which is fully documented in the service history, which has been stamped by the dealer on every visit. Presented in unmarked metallic black coachwork, you can see that the car has been taken care of as the paint has not lost any of it's shine and newness. The buyer of this car will have the peace of mind of having a brand new 12 month MOT carried out with many new parts and an oil change carried out at the same time.

The description, of course, is longer and more drawn out, but if you were in the market to buy a car, which would grab your attention better? It's not what you say, it's how you say it.

If you're not confident in conducting an auction on eBay, we shall be pleased to execute the auction on your behalf.

Working with the motor trade to dispose of overage stock

60 or 90 days means curtains for used cars. Keeping the stock on your forecourt fresh to attract new custom is a nightmare if your pitch is full of overage stock. Many dealers network between themselves to get rid and others cart these cars off to auction. A small dealership may have one of two cars, some larger dealers will have a truck load. This means tranport costs to get them to auction. That's more money on top of the profit lost having the car sitting there for the past 60-90 days.

When the car(s) get to the auction, they are at the wrath of the reserve price, the auctioneers and the bidders who are predominantly traders looking to stock their own forecourts. Hang on a second. Entering cars into an auction costs money too, it's pricey as they have to pay for the site they use, the electricity, rates etc. What if the car doesn't meet the reserve? What if the car doesn't sell? What if the auction turn out is bad that day? More costs ensue.

This is why more and more dealers are using eBay to rid themselves of stock that won't sell. You're opening up a whole new market to selling your car. What doesn't sell in your town, will sell in a different town and that's one of the beauties of eBay.

The other beauties of eBay... well, if you are a dealer, and have some overage stock to sell, get in touch with us and ask how eBay can help your business to turn an even larger profit without the costs of transport to traditional auction, the fees and the endless possibilities of your lot not being sold. We will not only save you money and maximize your profits on overage stock, but show you more possibilities of building credibility for your dealership or sales pitch and attracting more customers you would not have had before.

Simply visit our contact page and we'll contact you with more information.
